Marengo Decor — Maison

Care Guide

Each Marengo Decor piece is artisanally made with carefully selected materials. To preserve the integrity and beauty of your creations over time, we prepared this care guide for each product category.

Cushions
Hand wash
  1. 1Prepare a basin with room-temperature water. Heat can shrink knit and crochet fibers.
  2. 2Dissolve a small amount of delicate-fabric detergent or mild soap in the water.
  3. 3Submerge the piece and press gently to release dirt, without scrubbing.
  4. 4Rinse carefully until the water runs clear.
  5. 5Press gently to remove excess water. Never wring the piece.
  6. 6Lay flat on an absorbent towel and let it dry in the shade.
Quilts
Specialized laundry
  1. 1Because they are large-scale pieces with complex artisan construction, quilts should be sent exclusively to a specialized dry-cleaning service.
  2. 2Avoid any attempt at home washing, which may compromise structure, shape, and finishing.
Curtains
Varies by composition
  1. 1Polyester fabrics may be washed in room-temperature water, following general care for delicate pieces.
  2. 2Natural-fiber fabrics such as linen, cotton, silk, and similar compositions should be sent exclusively for dry cleaning, according to supplier guidance.
  3. 3If you are unsure about your curtain composition, check the label or contact our team before washing.

To preserve drape and structure in artisan curtains, we always recommend laundries experienced with decorative textiles.

Hunter Douglas products
Specific manual
  1. 1Each Hunter Douglas product includes its own technical care manual, with guidance according to its specific material.
  2. 2All products in this line should be sent to specialized laundries.
  3. 3Marengo Decor offers its own blind cleaning service. Contact us to schedule.
Wallpaper
Dry cleaning only
  1. 1Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to remove stains or dust.
  2. 2Do not rub. Press gently with soft movements to avoid damaging the surface.
  3. 3Avoid chemicals, abrasive products, or excess moisture.
Rugs
Specialized laundry
  1. 1Vacuum weekly using only the smooth edge of the vacuum head. Bristles or rigid nozzles may damage the fibers.
  2. 2Place a doormat at the entrance to reduce dirt and moisture brought in by shoes.
  3. 3Avoid stiff-bristle brooms or abrasive cleaning tools, which remove visible particles without preserving the fibers.
  4. 4For complete cleaning, always use a laundry service specialized in artisan rugs.

The ideal frequency of professional cleaning depends on traffic. In high-use areas, we recommend every 12 months.
